Apple Tart

The joy of relishing an apple tart is like feeling the sunshine over you in a cold winter’s morning. Its wonderful golden crust with its sweet buttery flavour takes you to a warm, cosy world. Here is my simple and delicious recipe for apple tart that everyone can definitely try at home!

Ingredients:

For the Tart dough

2 ½ cups or 215 gm all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

75 gm butter at room temperature

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla essence

For the apple filling

4 apples

¾ cup sugar

½ cup heavy cream

2 tsp cinnamon powder

1 tsp vanilla essence

2 egg yolk

Method:

The dough

1.Combine the flour, salt and butter properly.

2.Once, you’ve got a crumbly texture, add the egg, sugar and vanilla essence. Mix all of these ingredients and wrap it a cling wrap.

3.Rest the dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

4.Peel two of the apples and slice them into small pieces.

5.In a pan over medium heat, add the sliced apples, 2 tsp of sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon powder.

6.Add ½ cup of water. Once the water has dissolved and the apples are partially cooked, keep it aside.

7.Thinly slice the other 2 apples.

8.In a bowl combine the cream, remaining sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon powder, vanilla essence and egg yolks and whisk thoroughly.

9.Pre-heat the oven at 180̊c.

10.Take out the dough from the refrigerator after 1 hour and roll it into a size that will cover a 7inch diameter tart mould. The rolled-out dough must be ½ cm thick.

11.After placing the rolled-out sheet over the mould and pressing the sides and removing excess dough, place a baking paper on top of it and add a cup of salt or any kind of legumes that will press down the tart.

12.Bake this at 180̊c for 10 min.

13.After 10 min, take the tart out and remove the baking paper with the salt or legumes.

14.Fill the tart with the cooked apples, then place the thinly sliced apples on top of it, so that it looks like a flower.

15.Add the cream mix on top of it.

16.Bake this for 30 min at 180̊c.

17.After 30 min, cool it and serve it fresh!
