Eggnog

What other way to brighten your Christmas Cheer then enjoying a classic Christmas drink. Here is a recipe for eggnog that will definitely always be in your mind!

Ingredients

  • 5 egg yolks
  • 5 tbsp sugar
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp spice mix (nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves)
  • 120 ml Brandy or rum (any brand)

Method

In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar thoroughly for 1 min.

Then, heat 4 cups of milk and 2 tbsp of heavy cream in a vessel over low to medium heat.

Once it comes to 80̊C add vanilla essence and the spice mix.

Spice Mix

Pour this milk mixture into the whisked egg yolks mix, little by little. While doing this, make sure to continuously whisk it to prevent the egg yolks from getting cooked. Leave little of the milk mixture in the vessel.

Once you have whisked the milk and egg yolks mixture, add it in to the remaining milk mix in the vessel.

Heat this vessel over low to medium heat. Do not overheat this, at it might curdle. Keep on stirring the eggnog.

Once it has become a bit thick but still a drinkable consistency, take it off the heat and continue stirring till it becomes cool.

Add the alcohol to this and keep it in the refrigerator.

Eggnog tastes best when it has been stored in the refrigerator for at least 3 days.
