Chicken Katsu

Chicken Katsu is one of the most heavenly things that I have tasted lately. It has the right crispiness, crunch and juiciness to it. This freakishly amazing Japanese-style fried chicken is so good that it will definitely blow your mind and taste-buds away. Here is my recipe:

5 pieces of chicken breasts

2 large eggs

2 cups of bread crumbs

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 tsp salt

2 tsp pepper powder

2 tbsp black vinegar

1 tbsp red chilli flakes

2 cups oil

1.Place the chicken breasts in between a dish towel or inside a ziplock bag and pound it with a pestle to tenderise the chicken. This will make sure to keep the chicken soft when fried.

2.Mix the chicken breasts with salt, pepper powder, black vinegar and chilli flakes and marinate it overnight.

3.The next day, when you are ready to prepare the chicken, break the eggs in a bowl and whisk it and keep it aside.

4.Put the bread crumbs and all-purpose flour in separate bowls.

5.In a pan over medium-high heat, add the oil and wait for it to heat up.

6.After the oil is heated, take a chicken breast, coat it in flour and shake off the access. Dip it in the eggs and then press it into the bread crumbs until well coated on both sides.

7.Then, fry it in the pan. Do these for all the pieces.

8.You can always serve chicken katsu with miso paste or mayonnaise with a salad on the side.
